TCR’s shelter profile database has never been so relevant.
How many dogs does a shelter house at any given time? How many people does the same shelter have on staff? How many active volunteers? Is there a full-time veterinarian? Certified behaviorist?
We get information would-be owners may wish to know about the facility.
We also ask the shelters for outcome data (numbers adopted, euthanized, etc.) and note how the organization responds. Is the information already available on the shelter website or do we need to ask 19 people to get the minimum outcome data?
Finally, we pore over the shelter’s 990 tax returns and make inquiries about operating budget and fundraising activities. This information may be more useful to prospective employees, volunteers, as well as donors.
