America’s Best Veterinary Hospitals

*Our 2021 list will be out soon!

Dear Readers,

TCR’s Best Vet Hospitals list is based on numerous factors, including discussions with animal health professionals; accreditations such as those provided by the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS) and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA); due diligence protocols for any hospital in the final running, which includes obtaining records from local, state, and federal regulators.  Only veterinary practices that are fully staffed 24/7 are eligible. The reason for the ’24/7′ requirement is simple: nothing less would be expected at a hospital for people that meets the highest standards for specialty and emergency care. A veterinary practice without high-level, comprehensive emergency care can still offer excellent general practice care, and we do our best to recognize those practices in our profile database.

The hospitals listed here have profiles pending in our new veterinary hospital section. Please check periodically as long-term reporting work is now underway.

We rate hospitals on a 1-5 ‘paw’ scale, and hospitals are searchable by rating. Many of the hospitals listed have not yet been rated.
