Exclusive: FDA releases hundreds of dog DCM case reports via FOIA

This afternoon, The Canine Review received records by email responding to a Freedom of Information Act request we filed earlier this year.  See FOIA documents and other communications below.

Although the records seem to stop at November 3, 2022, the cut-off date of the December 23, 2022 case count update responding to our earlier FOIA, these records are massively appreciated and long overdue.

The Canine Review would like to thank David Schulz and the Media Freedom & Information Access Clinic at Yale Law School without whom this would not have been possible.

More to follow.

Another excellent resource: AllTradesDVM

The veterinary blog “All Trades DVM” is arguably the best secondary online resource on diet-associated dilated cardiomyopathy in dogs. The publisher does not use her surname because, she says, she worries about her personal safety, a concern our reporting validates.  Most recently, “Dr. Caitlin,” who is a full-time practicing veterinarian, has made a herculean effort to extrapolate numerical data from the new FDA files and produce the charts below. Many more important details about these charts are worth reading in full here.

The veterinary blog "All Trades DVM" has produced an invaluable series of charts extrapolating the new data from newly released FOIA documents. An invaluable contribution.
