Westminster Best in Show Winner CJ, a German Shorthaired Pointer, Dies at 7
The 2016 Westminster Best in Show winner C.J. (“California Journey”) died last week at the relatively young age of 7. His death was announced on Sunday by the Westminster Kennel Club, which issued a statement on its Twitter account.
CJ was owned, handled, and bred by Valerie Nunes-Atkinson of California. He was co-owned by Yvonne Hassler-Deterding, Alice Manning, Mark Ulrich, and Laurie Mykleby-Ulrich. He was 3-years-old when he was chosen for what’s considered one of the most prestigious awards in the dog fancy.
