Pets Best loses underwriter and partner Trupanion; will now be underwritten by Independence Pet Group-owned IAIC

Citing untenable capital reserve requirements by regulators, Trupanion CEO and founder Darryl Rawlings revealed this month at the company’s fourth quarter earnings that it would no longer be underwriting Pets Best. And, according to recent statutory filings  in California TCR subsequently gathered, the new underwriter for Pets Best will be the newly formed giant Independence Pet Group-owned IAIC. Here is a filing in California submitted February 10, 2023. The last status update is that the document is “pending state action.”
