Maine becomes first state to pass pet insurance model law; other state legislatures continue to wait for NAIC

On April 7, Maine Governor Janet T. Mills (D) signed an unlikely piece of legislation: “An Act Regarding Pet Insurance.” The reason the law was unlikely to have been signed is because it was has yet to be adopted by the body that introduced it: the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
